Grew up in West Germany and The Hague, Netherlands. Law Degree of Kiel University. English Law Course at the University of Guildford, Surrey, England. Doctor of Laws in 1999 with summa cum laude honors. (Doctoral thesis: The German Civil Code in Common Law Perspective, a study in comparative law.) Postgraduate judicial traineeship in Berlin. Admission to the bar in 2001. Certified Specialist for IP law since 2007, and for IT law since 2012. Associate lawyer in a major national law firm of intellectual property lawyers and patent attorneys for six years.

Dr. Dittmann mainly advises high-tech industry and media companies in all relevant legal matters, with a particular focus on competition law, copyright law, intellectual property law, trademark law, design patents, protection of know-how, contract law. This includes litigation as well as out-of-court counselling, asserting claims, drafting contracts and agreements (in particular license agreements, know-how licenses, R & D contracts, project development contracts, general terms and conditions). Chief among his clients are both German and international companies from England and China, media companies dealing in electronic cartography and digital aerial photography, a major German producer of stationery and school supplies, a major British-Dutch credit information company, importers and retailers of electronic products.

Dr. Dittmann is a Member of the Intellectual Property Law Specialist Committee of the Berlin Bar (Fachanwaltsausschuss für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz der Rechtsanwaltskammer Berlin).
